Today: Watch Five Former MAGA Members Discuss Why They Left
Join a Virtual Town Hall meeting at 8 pm EST sponsored by Principles First.
As we all reel from the proto-fascist policies of the Trump regime, there are rays of hope. One of them is the fact that there are people in MAGA who saw the light and left the movement. Today you can register to join a Virtual Town Hall at 8 pm EST to listen to five of them tell their stories.
I have written here about all five of them. Rich Logis, founder of Leaving MAGA, was so deep into the movement that he became a pundit. As he went through his process of breaking away, he discovered why so many stick with MAGA: "It was excruciating to even consider...cutting myself off from what had become my community."
Stephania Messina is a former Christian Nationalist who now considers herself a "more authentic Christian" after she rejected the "bigotry and hate" of her church. Jason Riddle joined the January 6 attack on the Capitol. Earlier this year he rejected Trump’s pardon; he sees the president’s hold on his followers as “scary.”
For James Hicks, the pandemic was the final straw, as he “was coming to understand that Trump didn’t care” about the American people. Steve Vilchez joined MAGA when he was just 13. Now that he has left the movement he says, “I feel I’ve learned how to truly think for myself — it’s liberating!”
